This is a Children’s Movie?!

Posted by on September 8, 2010

Moving means I’m eating a lot of junk food. One day, Varun grabbed the last sour gummy worm and put it into his mouth. This is my favorite candy. So I went in for a Lady and the Tramp-style kiss/steal the candy.

Me: (Chewing contendly) Aww, just like in Lady and the Tramp.
Varun: What?!
Me: (Nonchalantly) Lady and the Tramp. It’s this kids movie about two dogs and—
Varun: Isn’t a tramp a prostitute?
Me: Um. Yes. But this one is a dog. And it’s homeless and meets this other dog and they have babies. The girls are the same breed as the mom and the boys the same as the dad. It’s so cute. Will our babies be like that?
Varun: Wait, this is a children’s movie?
Me: Umm, yes.

hey, you know that ‘tramp’ can also mean ‘a wandering homeless person who begs.’ That would perhaps make more sense than ‘prostitute in the context of the movie’ 🙂

Thoughts? I love hearing from you!
