Adoption Update: Assigned a RIPA!

Posted by on December 21, 2012

I’m excited to announce that we have been assigned an adoption agency in India (R.I.P.A.)! In other words, the Indian government (CARA) has passed our file along to an agency in the state our child will be from…..Andhra Pradesh!

This means that sometime in the next two years, we’ll be matched with a child living in an orphanage in this state. When Travel Time comes, we’ll go to Hyderabad (the capital of A.P.) and meet our child!!

This ‘next step’ is right on time and means our file is moving along slowly but surely. But to me, it’s super exciting! Somehow, just knowing the state and being able to google images makes me feel so much closer to our little one. Now I can begin to imagine what s/he might be smelling, seeing, tasting or hearing. We’ve been imagining Hyderabad, finding families who have adopted from there and praying for our child’s home state by name. This knowledge was an awesome early Christmas gift!
