A Permanent Residency Shaped Email

Posted by on March 17, 2012

I have some great news. (No, Girl Scout cookies are not buy one get one). On Thursday, we were notified that our Canadian Permanent Residency application is nearly completed!!

If you check the immigration website (which I have bookmarked), it says the processing time for our type of application is 15 months. Fifteen months.

Now, I’m not a math superstar, but I’m pretty sure September 2011 to March 2012 is something like 6 months. This is crazy. For reasons I’ll elaborate on at a later date, this email came not a day too soon. We are so thankful that God answered our prayers in this way!

So now, after mounds of paper work and months of waiting, all we have to do is take our passports to Buffalo and then “land” in Canada! Nothing is certain until the PR letter is in our hands, but this is definitely one small step for man (and one giant leap for mankind). We got this email the same day I wrote that sappy post about Canada being awesome. I wonder if the visa office workers found my blog and were just waiting for me to say something nice about Canada..? If so, THANK YOU, Visa Office People!

Stay tuned for Varun and Amelia’s Fabulous Immigration Road Trip To Buffalo sometime in the next two weeks!

Good luck for your permanent residency! My boyfriend and I are moving to Canada in a month with a working holiday visa and we’re hoping to stay there after it.
The Visa Office has been really fast processing your application!
